FRUSTRATING BUT EXPECTED

HALLALUAHS for better days! After 2 units of blood and continuation of antibotics, we were very thankful that Monday brought improvement. Temperature was normal, blood pressure was under control and other vital signs were stable. Blood work continued to show reasons for Franklin's feelings of listlessness and fatique even though vitals had improved - white counts < than 300,platelets - 12,000 and HCT (hemoglobin and other things) - 29.1 (it had been 25 Sunday night that is why the 2 units of blood). Doctor Lonial - tests confirmed gram negative bacteria so he added another antibotic to cover all bases, watch for bleeding may need platelets, mouth and throat not as bad as he had feared but could worsen next couple of days, finally stated that Franklin is on track except for setback Jan. 14. Growth factor shots began tonight to boast white cell production, these will be given daily. Thank goodness nurses will administer this time.
Jan.16 - Platelets were given due to nose bleed. Diahera began in early morning. This coupled with muscle fatique made for a frustrating day for Franklin to say the least. These struggles are to be expected even though, like Franklin stated so well before, the journey is no fun. Lonial felt like the tongue and throat swelling has gone down some but tapering of the steriod dexamethasome will not happen until he is eating and drinking and counts rising. A physical therapist was called in to assess and will be working with him daily. Even though the staff is working hard to cover all bases, it is hard to realize that this WILL NOT be a fast process. We continue to pray for complete remission, speedy recovery and minimal side effects.
Sorry for the length but it is so hard to condense. We have one request about the priceless comments that you are entering. Please comment on the most recent post so that we do not fail to enjoy your comment. Both of us look so forward to checking them daily. I know you all will be ready for Franklin to feel like posting again so they won't be so lengthy.

An early good morning to you all!
Aimee, length is no problem. Your posting is priceless! We have checked this site almost hourly waiting for ya'lls update. I know you all have been busy with the adventure at hand but it is so wonderful to be able to get these reports!
Prayers continue for Franklin's recovery and remission but also for you, for your strenghth and stamina and peaceful rest for you!
Weather outside has turned very wet and cold. It will be nice for the sunshine to return and the temperatures to rise and for you all to be able to have it when you can return to a outside walk!

Dillon told me about your "BLOG".

Your "BLOG" looks great!! Who did it for you?

I know you did't do it. You still have not learned how to turn on a computer. By the way, the computer is that thing that looks like a combination type writter and TV.

Eveyone ask me about how you are. I will tell them about your "BLOG".

"Blog" sounds like, how you feel after eating too much at the Holiday Inn lunch Buffet.

I miss you a great deal. I do not have anyone to talk too. When I ask Dillon for help, he just says,"How should I know. Do what I do. Ask Franklin."

Besides, because you are not here, I am becoming one of the more experience (older) attorneys in town. Get back here--- quickly!!!

I am doing good. My knee is getting stronger each day. My foot has not improved but I can walk normally with my brace. I have lost 40 lbs, and can walk 3 miles easily. My blood pressure is down and I am healther than I have been in years.

I climb the stairs in the CourtHouse each day for exersice. I am up to 12 stories at a time. I know the Court House is only 3 stories. I go up and down 4 times. ( 3 x 4 = 12 )

I remeber you in my thoughts and prayers each day. That may or may not be a good thing. I am not sure how good my connections are nor to which one I am connected too.

We do not always know why these thing happen to us. I am a believer that they happen for a reason. A good reason!!

Your positve attitute, family and prayer will get you throuh this ordel.

If I can do anything for you, just ask. However do not ask for a car, stocks or cash.

Happy Wednesday to you! Sure do hope that today is better than yesterday and your tomorrow's just get better and better.

Well...your daughter exposed me to American Idol last night...it about killed me. Don't know why it bothers me like it does to see folks make a fool of themselves. But, boy howdy, do they make fools of themselves!

Anyway, we (Lauran and Steph) had a good laugh.

I'm thankful for you both and praying for all that is good to come your way.

Talk to you soon.

Hi Ya'll,
I really do like the BLOG - Besides keeping up with the Adventure, which is the most important reason, it's like a big reunion - family, friends and what's going on in their lives also.
If this cold weather keeps going on for long (what am I thinking-it's supposed to be cold this time of year!), we're gonna have to move our computer away from this sliding glass door - OR - maybe weatherstripping would be easier - bbbrrrrr!!!
Talked to Marjorie yesterday. She said Franklin was doing much better - and that's GREAT. She was doing well. Shirley ordered cheese straws for next Friday (HOT). I asked Marjorie if she would take "left-overs" and she quickly responded, OH, YES.
We are so glad to hear that Franklin is improving. We hope and pray there won't be any more scary days. Sounds more positive now since the doctor says he is on track.
Tomorrow on my way to town, I'll stop by and get more kisses from Wolfe and Slate. They always seem happy to see us - they are so sweet and don't tell Slate, but Wolfe is my favorite.
I just can't get over how much Hanna and Grace have grown. They should slow down a little - we tell ours that all the time.
Talk to ya'll again soon,
Linda and Jimmy
