Can't Keep A Good Man Down

Jan. 24 -Day 16
We were able to leave the hospital on Monday, Jan. 22. Of course nothing at the hospital moves fast so it was about 5 p.m. before we were ready to leave but leave WE DID. The suite will meet our needs for now and believe it or not it almost feels like home. Franklin is so relieved that the poking, prodding and checking are over and that he is not connected to ANYTHING. He is using a walker to add stability and has very little energy or stamina but with Franklin's strong will and fighting attitude it won't be long before hugh gains will be noticed.
The doctor's visit brought GREAT NEWS!! Blood work looks great! He is changing the steriod, Dexamethsome, to Prenisome so the tapering process can begin. We are so thankful for finally being able to get off of that awful steriod. Bye bye moon face, hello muscles. Franklin was assured that energy levels will be creeping up daily and that he is doing better than he thinks he is. The doctor explained that we have no frame of reference when it comes to transplant progress but they do and things could be so much worse. He said that after our appointment on Friday that we could go home for the weekend and if everything is still progressing this well, next week probably go home for good. It is hard to believe that this adventure may be finally drawing to a close.

How exciting!!! We are so proud of you Dub. Keep up the good work! Nanna you too. I saw some Air Tran tickets for $79.00, Keith has been talking of making a trip dwn there after we return from Mexico. We would all love to visit but I think Dub should rest a little longer before he encounters "Our Precious Little Angels!" Ha Ha! Well We went to get our passports today and luckily they said we should get them in time. Now we can start to get excited. Wish you all could come with us. One of these years we will all sip on foo foo drinks on the beach together!
We love you both.

So glad to finally get to your blogspot and get accurate information. Sounds like you have been in for quite a round, but we are so thankful that we live at a time when the stem cell transplant is possible. The weather is quite nice here on Jekyll Island even now in the dead of winter; why not come down for an extended visit? Boone and Tonya are in Melbourne Beach with our first grandson and don't get home very often. Mac is finishing his last year at UGA. So we have two free bedrooms available for you anytime you get here. We will take good care of you and make sure that you have anything that you want or need. We love you and are praying for your speedy recovery. We both hope that the worst is now over for you.

Dear Franklin and Aimee,
What great news! I've been out of the loop for a few days and am thrilled to read the fruits of your hardwon progress! Steroids ARE awful, aren't they? I can identify with wanting to lose the moon face, the racing body! Soon. Soon. You are in my prayers.

Aimee, thanks for the journals. Don't worry about the length. I'm grateful for your commitment to the process.

Here's a hug for you both.

I'm adding my excitement to everyone else's! What wonderful news! I talked to Mama tonight and she was so very happy with your latest report. She has tried to post comments but she's not sure she's been successful. She's reading the blog, however, and I understand has sent Aimee emails directly. I'm looking forward to hearing that you have gotten home. Hang in there. Miriam

Hi -- Aimee and Franklin --

I've not heard but hoping that you are home by now - and how great that will be. I've not had luck with comments so I'm just leaving this brief one and I'll email directly -- just blog challenged, I guess. I'll continue holding you in my thoughts.
Love -- Margaret
